The convenience store industry serves hundreds of millions of Americans every day, providing them with fuel and food. It is an industry that we absolutely depend on due to its incredible convenience. This ease of access also provides C-Stores with the opportunity to save lives. How?
Every day, victims of human trafficking are transported against their will, often passing through C-Stores, as they are forced into slavery and deprived of their basic human rights. However, human traffickers’ use of C-Stores for daily essentials presents an opportunity to identify and stop them.
“With longer hours of operation, public restrooms, and more than 150,000 locations in communities across the United States that serve half of the population daily, c-store operators are in a unique position to disrupt this criminal enterprise and help victims of human trafficking,” reports Convenience Stores Against Trafficking
DTT has partnered with Convenience Stores Against Trafficking (CSAT) to end human trafficking in the United States. CSAT works to educate Convenience Store owners about human trafficking, as well as to provide free training and simple materials that convenience store operators can use to encourage victims of trafficking to find help.
In conjunction with those efforts, DTT encourages the use of their audio and video surveillance products to safely identify instances of human trafficking. Surveillance can be a powerful took when it comes to stopping human trafficking, and that tool becomes even more powerful when paired with the training CSAT provides. Together, we are committed to completely ending human trafficking in the United States.
One of the core initiatives of CSAT is to raise awareness about how c-stores can be the eyes and ears in our communities to stop human trafficking. In that vein, Julianna Williams, the Program Director for Convenience Stores Against Trafficking, will be giving a talk at the M-PACT show in Indianapolis. I strongly encourage anyone attending the show to hear her talk and pledge their commitment to ending human trafficking.
Join her at 8:00 AM on March 15th in Room 124 for her talk, or visit her at booth #409. Additionally, visit DTT at booth #609 to learn how DTT’s loss prevention solutions can not only help save your time and bottom dollar, but may also help save a life!
